GENERAL INFORMATION

GENERAL PROGRAMME AIMS & OBJECTIVES

Each specific programme will have its own aim. Programme objectives vary between our programmes, but will include some or all of the following seven attributes:

Winning Attitude.  In our increasingly demanding workplaces, we need to develop mental resilience in order to respond to difficulties and challenges with a realistic positive perspective. An overall trait though-out our programmes is to help delegates to develop a sustainable winning attitude. We aim to create the environment to inspire your people and increase their confidence to tackle issues that previously appeared too difficult or even impossible - to take those first difficult steps, and then see the challenge through.

Increase Personal Awareness and Effectiveness.  We all need to understand ourselves, our own personalities and what motivates us; before we can begin to understand other people, their personalities and what motivates them. Understanding our own strengths and areas requiring development, before we can appreciate the differing strengths and development points of others. This understanding will help us to raise our own, and our team's, effectiveness and performance. Programmes may include use of Psychometric Instruments, including the Myers Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) - Step I and Step II, and/or FIRO-B.

Leadership Skills.  Our courses will help delegates to develop their own leadership style to suit their own personality, the varying situations they find themselves in, and the needs of those they are leading. We are more concerned with making delegates aware of the impact their style and behaviour may have or others, rather than trying to change them into something they are not - that is unlikely to last much beyond the end of the course. We find that leadership is best learned in facilitated experiential activities that reflect real world issues, where mistakes can be made in a safe environment. The real learning comes from linking the course with experience in the world of work.

Team-development.  Delegates will be part of a team on our programmes, and will experience how high performance teams can be developed in a short period of time - including the importance of diversity, and dynamics of team development. We help delegates to understand team dynamics and life cycles, and how they can contribute more effectively to the success of the teams they are members of.

Communication Skills.  Delegates will have considerable opportunity to develop their confidence and verbal communication skills. Active listening and non-verbal communication skills are also developed to avoid failures in communication and the resulting conflict. These skills will be covered in considerable depth on the Powerful Presentations Course.

Develop Decision-making Techniques.  How to look at issues from a different perspective, also how to use the complementary and diverse skills of the team to tackle problems from less obvious directions. Examine all relevant factors and options before making optimal decisions. We teach the Six Stage Situational Analysis based on the model used extensively by the British Army.

Making it Happen.  Our programmes tackle real world issues. We aim to give our delegates the tools, confidence, and desire to make things happen - to get results. By developing and encouraging the first six attributes - this seventh, most important and elusive attribute happens almost naturally.
