COMPANY BACKGROUND

The Leadership Challenge was set up in January 2000 by former Parachute Regiment officer Peter Kennedy, to bring the ethos and success of British airborne forces to the commercial world. Whilst studying for an MBA in 1999, it became clear to him that many managers and staff lack the necessary skills and qualities that their organisations desperately need to ensure success. During discussions with a number of business leaders and management development experts, it was obvious that these missing skills and qualities were precisely the seven battle-winning attributes we had developed in our officers and soldiers in airborne forces in the British Army. We have adapted this ethos to the civilian world, and have now been running our programmes successfully for over ten years. Based in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, we run programmes all over the UK and in Europe.

What are the seven attributes we help to develop and enhance in our delegates? Well, there should be no surprise to anyone who has ever had to make things happen, through and with people. The seven attributes are:

Our experience of working with many clients for over ten years has highlighted these seven key attributes, which employers need in their managers and staff. These attributes are covered to a varying extent on all our programmes.

We have a wide range of clients from the public, private, and third sectors - from global corporations, through national organisations, to small local businesses. Relationships with some of our clients go back over ten years. Our long standing clients include Siemens, the OU Business School, Aggregate Industries, Greater Manchester Police, Finning Caterpillar, and the Midlands Co-operative Society. Our delegates range from team leaders to Managing Directors & Chief Executives, delegates from the Police have ranged from Sergeant to Deputy Chief Constable (and police staff equivalent).
