NHS Renal Registrars Improve Communication Skills

It is important for all of us to have good communication skills – it is particularly important when you are a busy NHS doctor who has to communicate with other healthcare professionals, patients, and their families in often stressful situations. In addition to good 1:1 communication skills, doctors also have to be able to give presentations to audiences ranging from a few medical students to large international conferences. NHS Renal Registrars in the West Midlands undergo centralised regular professional training to develop their skills, and to prepare them for promotion to consultant grade. Their latest training event in September was a one day “Powerful Presentations” seminar run by Peter Kennedy from The Leadership Challenge. How did it measure up?
“Excellent. I enjoyed the whole programme. This course has provided useful tips in delivering a powerful presentation. I highly recommend it.”
