PETER KENNEDY

Peter Kennedy, the founder of The Leadership Challenge, is the course director for all our programmes - assisted where necessary by associates and staff.

Peter Kennedy enlisted as a private soldier in the Parachute Regiment, and by the age of 29 was one of the youngest Majors in the British Army. He worked alongside the civil police in counter-insurgency operations and exercises in Northern Ireland, and the UK mainland. At the age of 25, he had the rare and somewhat dubious privilege of giving the order to a company of paratroopers to fix bayonets, in the first major battle the British Army had fought in a generation. He led the final attack at the Battle of Goose Green, seizing the last hill overlooking the Settlement and personally capturing the enemy flag on its summit.  He was one of only two British soldiers to reach Goose Green itself during the battle. Appointed company commander in the closing stages of the battle, he was about to lead another attack when the enemy surrendered.

After taking an MBA to convert his military knowledge to the commercial world, he now runs leadership, powerful presentation, and other development programmes for a wide-ranging group of organisations to help raise business & operational performance.

Happily married, with three adult boomerang kids. His interests include jogging, squash, mountaineering, visiting the pubs of Shrewsbury, and Rotary. He has helped a number of young people achieve their Gold Duke of Edinburgh Award. A qualified and experienced Mountain Leader, he is currently working towards accreditation as an International Mountain Leader.
